Does Your Radio Stream Host Pay Royalties?

IndieRadioFM.net was first launched on the Radionomy Network. Radionomy paid artist Royalties. That was one of the reasons we choose to use them as our platform.

Radionomy Shuts Down THEIR US Radio Stations ON May 31, 2019

Radionomy offers to migrate us to Shoutcast, (that they happen to own). Shoutcast DOES NOT PAY ROYALTIES. That means if we want to play mainstream music we have to get a royalty licenses. That was not in the cards for our station. It is not big enough or generate the funds to support that. SO WE STOPPED PLAYING MAINSTREAM MUSIC. and we PLAYED ALL INDIE MUSIC on Shoutcast.

We then found Streemlion. They power and host 5 of our new stations. They are from Canada and have a Socan License. They pay royalties.

We required all artist who submit music to us to give us a royalty free license to use their music. We do this because if our host would have to change in the future, we will keep playing your music.

If we can put you on a royalties paying platform, that is what we are going to do. Because we can also play mainstream music. But we have the right to change host server platform if the cost does not make business sense. Our goal is to always help the indie artist. That is why when we only had Shoutcast we started building music pages.

Right now we have stations on Streemlion and Shoutcast. Streemlion pays royalties via Socan. You’re giving us a royalties free license to play your music anywhere else, including Shoutcast. Because we have Shoutcast stations free for a year we are using them to help promote and bring people to our web site. In the future they probably will be shut down.

If you’re a member of one of the royalty platforms and you would like us to removed your music from our station, please let us know. We are happy to remove it but please understand that once removed you can not be added to our playlist again or use our services to promote your music. We will convert you to a listener account.
